While I was in Texas in January and the first 10 days of February, I marveled at the amount of flora they have that blooms in the winter. Yes, I know, it's warmer there than in Indiana, but I never thought about flowers blooming in January!!! So I took my trusty(?) camera out into my brother's back yard and snapped a few photos of what was blooming there.
This looks much like our "sweet alyssum" that grows here in the early spring.
This is called a potato vine. It doesn't produce potatoes, and it's a perennial.
Roses blooming in January??? Well,I declare!Pansies blooming in a pot near the deck.
Now I know Mellodee will wonder what all the "hoopala" is over flowers in winter, but I know Terry in Montana might be as in awe as I was! LOL!!
Peace,
JE

Hey, I'm from Chicago! I get the idea and I'm right there with you! Flowers all year round? Delightful!
(BTW, not too crazy about the 2 "word" verification thingy for your comment moderation. Sometimes takes 2 or 3 tries to figure out what one of them is!!)
Wow! I didn't even realize there was a word verification thingy on there. I will look into taking that off as soon as Mags gets home and can show me how.! I hate them, too!
It won't be until the middle of March before we even see a hint of color poking up through the spring snow. Flowers all year round - I wonder if there's such a thing as snow flowers? ;0)

Makes me long for spring. I should show you the picture of a flower that Mom-in-law has in Fl.
