As you all know, my friend Curley has taught me to crochet. It all began last March, (the one in 2011), and has continued. I started out doing very simple patterns, simple stitches, and still, it took me a while to learn those basics.
Curley has been encouraging me to try some things that are "just a little" more challenging. Today, I finished my most challenging piece to date. It's a shawl created as a gift for a friend of Prof's. It took longer than any other piece I have done. And, I must admit, by the time I got it done I was tired of the color "Honeydew."
But, here it is. Let me know what you all think! (And, no, I don't want to make that pattern again anytime soon.!)

Wow! I wish I could find someone to teach me crochet; it's a beautiful art! I bought a book to try and self-teach but I really am a visual learner... I need someone to show me.

I was shown the very basics, then I got a book, "Crochet for Dummies" which is not only helpful, but funny as well! and I also turn to Youtube videos if I need help. I think you need to persevere and keep on trying. My friend Curley was patient with me, and that helped a lot. Ask around where you shop or work or worship. Surely there is someone available to help you get started. Find a shop that sells yarn, knitting and crocheting supplies. The personnel there are always glad to help out. Good Luck!!
Thank you for your advice, it definitely is something would like to learn. I work in a school where you think I would find at least one person who could teach me lol, but I haven't found them yet! I might try my local wool shop, I never thought to ask the lady in there...
